11/10/2017-- At the Oriental Dinghy Club Board meeting on Nov 10th, the Board voted unanimously to return the annual dues for an Associate Membership to $25. During 2017 it had been $50.
Associate Memberships are for one-(1) person. Associate Members can attend social events but, not on-water events (as a skipper). This membership level is designed for those who wish to support the club but, it does not include voting privileges at the Annual Meeting & Awards Ceremony.
New One Design Class
Two ODC members, Joe Mattea & Billy Creech, and two likely, future members -Mark Lucas & Bob Slook ... along with ODC Commodore, Todd Cox ... met last week to discuss the addition a special NEW mini series next racing season.
It will be comprised of spinnaker boats having an NC-PHRF rating of 174. For now, this special new Class will include J24’s (there are four in town now) and our one Sonar (Blue Cricket)... all having NC-PHRF ratings of 174.
Discussions are ongoing but, a preference was voiced at simply designating 4 to 6 of the 2018 PHRF Fleet racedays as ‘174 OD Days’. J24’s & Sonar’s will remain part of the overall PHRF Fleet, Div 3 scoring... but, a 2nd competition would be going on among the ‘174 boats’.
As a side benefit, this should almost double the number of Division 3 PHRF Fleet competitors on those designated racedays.
